Our Speakers

Christopher Graham

Christopher Graham is a freelance ELT consultant and author based in the UK. He has worked in the field since 1981 in over 30 countries for the British Council, ministries of education and international publishers. He works extensively on Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning projects and CPD design and delivery. He has a specific interest in teaching contexts in fragile and fractured societies, and in the role that ELT has in engaging with the climate crisis.

He is VP of IATEFL, a Trustee, and Chairs the Publications Committee, and will be President from 2025-27. He is a judge for the British Council’s ELTons awards.

John Hughes

John Hughes attended his first BESIG conference in 1994. He has designed and delivered courses to numerous companies and prepared students for business examinations. His published titles include Business Result (Oxford), Telephone English (Macmillan), Success with Business and Total Business as well as general English titles such as Life and Pathways (National Geographic Learning). As co-author, his ETpedia Business English (Pavilion ELT) resource book for teachers won a BESIG award.  Currently, he is writing materials which integrate the UN's sustainability development goals and runs training course in materials writing at www.writingeltmaterials.com.
